Show Only Matching Products with a Metafield-Based Conditional Worksheet
Show Only Matching Products with a Metafield-Based Conditional Worksheet
You can filter your Shopify products and variants in Mixtable by metafield values. This lets you work with just the products that match specific criteria—like showing only summer products, or variants assigned to a particular warehouse.
Common use cases:
- Show only products where a “Season” metafield equals “Summer”
- Show only variants where a “Warehouse” metafield equals “LA”
- Show only variants whose parent product has a specific metafield value
Before you start
Make sure:
- The metafield you want to filter by is defined in Shopify (go to Settings → Custom data)
- You know which worksheet type you need:
- Products (no variants) – for filtering products
- Products (with variants) – for filtering variants

Filter variants by metafield
Use this to create a worksheet with Shopify variants, filtered by either:
- A variant metafield value
- A parent product metafield value

Note: In a variants worksheet, you can filter by both variant metafields and product metafields. If you have the same metafield name on both, you’ll see multiple options in the list—choose the one that matches what you want to filter.

Once your Conditional Worksheet finishes loading:
- Make your edits in the spreadsheet
- Click Send to Shopify when you’re ready
Change your filter criteria
To adjust your Conditional Worksheet criteria later:
- Open the worksheet
- Click Change Conditional Worksheet criteria
- Update your conditions
- Click Save Conditional Worksheet criteria
Mixtable will refresh the worksheet to show rows matching your new filter.
Troubleshooting
My metafield isn’t showing as a filter option
Make sure the metafield definition exists in Shopify (check Settings → Custom data), then try again.
Not all metafield types appear
Conditional Worksheets support common single-value metafield types like text, number, date, and boolean. Other types may not be available for filtering.
