Set up a Conditional Worksheet for Shopify data
Set up a Conditional Worksheet for Shopify data
There are times when you don’t want all your Shopify data to be loaded in a worksheet. For example, you might want to load only products with specific names, products from a specific vendor, products that have a specific tag, or orders after a specific date. Mixtable allows you to do this by adding a Conditional Worksheet with your Shopify data. If you set up a Conditional Worksheet then Mixtable will only load data that matches the criteria you’ve set out. If a new object is added in Shopify (e.g., a new product), then that object will only load in the worksheet if it matches the Conditional Worksheet criteria.
To create a Conditional Worksheet follow these steps:
- Click the + button in the spreadsheet tab strip to add a new worksheet
- Select the data you’d like to load in your worksheet. E.g., Products
- You’ll now be prompted to choose whether you want all data to be loaded in the worksheet, or to Set Conditional Worksheet criteria. Select the second option.
- You’ll now see an interface that allows you to Add Condition. You’ll be able to pick from the fields your data has and to set up the conditional criteria for each such field. For example, to load only products that have “aliexpress” as the vendor and whose tags include “best-seller”. You can set up more than one condition, and to select whether data is loaded when all conditions are met (an AND condition), or whether only one of the conditions is met (an OR condition). You can set up a condition for all the “core” fields your object has, along for any metafields that you’ve defined for the object.
What happens when data no longer matches
Mixtable keeps Conditional Worksheets aligned with your Shopify store. If a Shopify object starts matching your conditions, Mixtable can add it to the worksheet. If an object used to match but no longer does, its row may become empty.
The same thing can happen after you change the conditions for a Conditional Worksheet. Rows for Shopify objects that matched the old conditions, but do not match the new ones, may become empty.
If you see empty rows in a Shopify-linked worksheet, you can:
- Leave them in place
- Select the empty row headers and delete the rows manually
- Click the Worksheet menu and select Remove Empty Rows to clean up rows that no longer contain worksheet data
