Shopify One-Time Customers Template
Shopify One-Time Customers Template
The One Time Customers template creates a filtered Shopify Customers worksheet for people who have placed exactly one order. It combines customer details with an all-time sales metric so you can review first-purchase value and plan retention work with a spreadsheet.
Why one-time customers are worth a report
Winning a first order is the expensive part. You paid to acquire that customer, and if they never come back, the acquisition cost sits against a single purchase.
A second order changes that arithmetic completely, and one-time buyers are usually the largest group of people who might realistically place one. They already know you, they have bought once, and nothing went wrong enough to stop them.
This report gives you that group as a working list:
- Everyone who bought exactly once, ready to export to your email tool
- What each of them spent, so you can prioritize the higher-value ones
- Their last order, which tells you how long ago they went quiet
- A base for a win-back campaign that is far cheaper than new acquisition
Sort by spend and start at the top. A customer who spent a lot once is a better prospect than several who barely spent at all.
Fields and analytics included
The worksheet contains:
- Customer First Name
- Customer Last Name
- Last Order Name
- Total Number of Orders
- Total Gross Order Amount
The worksheet filter includes customers whose Total Number of Orders equals 1. Total Gross Order Amount covers all time.

Use the worksheet for retention analysis
One-time customers have completed a first purchase but have not yet placed a second order. Use the worksheet to:
- Estimate the size of your first-purchase customer group
- Identify higher-value first orders for retention analysis
- Review which Shopify orders most recently created one-time customers
- Add customer fields or analytics that help explain repeat-purchase behavior
- Prepare internal customer segments for further analysis
The template does not prove that a customer is unlikely to return. A customer who ordered yesterday and a customer who ordered two years ago can both appear in the worksheet.
Add timing context
Add customer creation date, last order date, or other supported customer fields when timing matters. Separating recent first-time buyers from older one-time buyers makes retention analysis more useful.
You can also add analytics columns such as product categories bought, product types bought, or customer segment membership where supported. These details can reveal whether one-time purchasing is concentrated in a particular assortment or audience.
Keep the list current
The worksheet is conditional. When Shopify customer data updates, a customer who places a second order no longer matches the one-order condition and can move out of the filtered worksheet.
Do not treat the worksheet as a marketing consent list. Before contacting customers, use the appropriate Shopify consent fields and follow the laws and policies that apply to your business.
